Calderhead Parish Church is now known as Calderhead Erskine Church as is seen above.
The first service was held on 23rd September 1860 by the first minister, Rev. John Davidson Grant.. It can seat 400 to 500 people.

One minister wrote in the Statistical Account for Scotland that when the first Irish emigrants arrived in Shotts, he was shocked to see local young men hanging around the Works Corner during the week with their Sunday best clothes on, trying to attract the new female incomers.

A former minister Rev. John Stewart lies buried at the centre of the back of the church. He died at the age of 43. He requested to be as near as possible to the pulpit. The Rev. William Beattie died earlier last year at he age of 43 he was buried at Benhar Cemetery.

The new minister who has since been inducted is Rev. Dr. Ian Thom. who came from North East Scotland.
