St. Catherine's Episcopal Church

This church was situated in Windsor Street. It is now the converted home of St. Patrick’s brass band and has been since 1983. Previously to that it was a quiet unassuming church and the only presence felt was that of the Rev. Harry McGhee. He was chaplain of a local scout troupe. His love of God was obvious. When he spoke his quiet voice commanded respect and demanded to be listened to. In 1972 at the age of 75 he was ordained as a Minister achieving his life-long ambition. He retired at the age of 85. When he died at the age of 86, his funeral was attended by many of the local dignitaries and the British Legion formed a guard of Honour.

There are other religious bodies in Shotts such as the Gospel hail and the Mission Hall in Dykehead. In Main Street, Stane, Jehovah’s Witness have their Kingdom Hall.
